Hi.
Our freelander 2 has developed a problem in that we cannot connect a phone to the stereo. It is almost as if the button used to connect one (the one with the phone symbol on it) has gone faulty as it does nothing when pressed.
Has anybody known this issue before and a possible fix?
If it is a faulty switch does it mean an entire new head unit?
Alternatively does anybody know of a good after market upgrade that could be used as a replacement.
Any assistance greatly appreciated.

The Bluetooth module is know to fail, but is easily of not exactly cheap to replace.

Upgrading isn't impossible, but isn't easy, due to the massive amount of integration of the audio unit into the rest of the vehicle.

I'll do some further research into the Bluetooth known problem.
The Bluetooth module is in the boot, behind the RH side trim.
Here's mine.

I snapped this picture while I was changing the rear shocks.
The BT module is the black box visible, behind the BT module with the with the silver case and green plugs is the power amplifier.

The BT module does seem to go wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's a straight swap with another working unit. I can't remember exactly, but I don't think the BT module needs to be configured to the vehicle.
