Took the brake calipers off my 2001 Def 90 yesterday and as expected a short copper link pipe between the flexible hose and the caliper broke as the fitting was turned, one on the left side is steel and was fine.
I went online to buy a new one today and whilst they are typically around £6 to £8 the one for later Defenders, after around 2000, were £25! I spoke to one of the leading part suppliers and he said there was no particular reason for this just my chassis number calls for the later one, he suggested I make one up but I don't have flaring tools. This Bearmach one looks exactly like the one removed https://www.terraintechparts.com/products/bearmach-right-brake-pipe-for-land-rover-defender-nrc9575 but I cant tell size from the photo
Anyone had the same experience and got a cheaper fix?

I just got mine made via a guy on ebay, sent him the details of size and fittings that i required , had them the next day made to the length I wanted, cheap as chips.

Maybe another option is someone like Pioneer 4x4, as he makes brake pipes I believe.

Cheers

Or see if a local motor factor can make you some, mine did, I took the old one in as a template and they bent and flared it for me, was buttons.

Buy a cheapo flaring kit of the bay of e for a tenner & a roll of pipe for the same & a few fittings
so for 25 quid you can replace most of the pipes on your motor & you will have a new tool lying
about, some kits come with pipe benders no need to spend a fortune on a kit.
If you were closer I could have made you one. :)

Thanks for all the responses, and Kevstar for offering to make one - I took the Ebay route and a fellow called Greg seems to know his stuff and is making one for me. I think some of the pre-made on Ebay would fit but the difference in price for the later ones made me cautious and wonder if there is something special about them but I suspect not !!
