if an expedition from london to cape-town were planned, is it better to have petrol or diesel- i hear it is hard to get diesel in some countries on the way down there.

question is, if i were to start planning an expedition to there, do i take the SIII 2.25 109 safari with lpg or the 90 200TDi

go with a diesel and plan yer route....take lots o jerry cans....at least enough for about 1000km is wot i would do... about 5 or 6 jerry cans [25L ones]

neither at the moment it's too dangerous. but if it wasn't the 90's too small to get all your gear in and finding lpg for the 109 will be next to impossible.

was thinking that the lpg would get me through europe and then use regular petrol rest of the way.

i just like the reliability of the petrol really- but open to suggestions of for and against

I'd go with the 109 for the extra storage space as long as the LPG isn't going to get damaged by the rough terrain.

i would be worried about the quality of the petrol. a lot of countries i been to have water contamination problems in the fuel as well as parrafin and used oil being added to fuel to make it go further. only real problem with diesel is the sulfur content [and water] but can be more reliable than petrol in most places

Maybe you could fit the 90 enjin and gearbox in the 109 best of both worlds then

if u gonna go with the 90, change the fairlead for one with bigger side rollers and heavier centre bolts....that one looks suspect....had problems b4 with ones like u got with skinny bolts.....they break if u look at em too hard
