Morning all,

The wife and I are off to Exmoor tomorrow for a long weekend (camping), and wondered if there are any green lanes around the area to help us take in the scenary.

We're staying on a camp site in the heart of the Exmoor National Park, and will be in a standard Disco 2 (has had the conversion from air suspension to springs), so don't want anything too demanding.

Does anyone know of any suitable lanes? I'll probably ask when we get there, but would prefer to have an idea in advance.

I will probably pick up OS maps of the area once we're there.

Cheers,

There are a few in the area but non in the park itself that you can drive i dont think.

None in the park it's all restricted byways. Towards Barnstaple there are some which are on the map for Exmoor sheet ol9 but I have not driven them myself so can't comment on terrain.

As said above there's not a lot on Exmoor. About three open lanes on exmoor, all of which are easy, wide and non damaging.

There are plenty of other lanes around North Devon, but most are tight and scratchy. Height wise you will probably struggle in a disco on alot of the lanes as we have a lot of substantial trees growing across the lanes which can and cause damage and which you could even be wedged under. If you have just the one vehicle don't even attempt the lanes and instead just enjoy the moors and the beaches ;)

Cloutsham & Horner woods are a good trip. Not green lanes, as such, but a lovely run - with a chance to see the Red deer at Bagley Coombe.
