I have a TD5 Disco facelift. Im going to be replacing the exhaust with a decat pipe, and have looked at various threads that suggest there's a good possibility a studs going to be sheered. I've decided to replace all of the studs and nuts for new copper coated ones.

Can anyone tell me the thread and pitch sizes ? I've seen many links but there's no sizes. I'm assuming its M8.

Also, Ive found the gasket between the turbo and pipe, but nothing between the pipe and the middle box. Im assuming from what I can see from the pictures of the pipe its a rounded connector, that just clamps in place. Anyone know what size the studs/bolts/nits are, as I'll replace them as well, with copper coated...

just need the copper coated flanged nuts...

On my Transit, I had to cut down the old nuts between turbo and exhaust, using a 2 inch air cutter, and a mirror, with a hammer and small chisel. Nightmare job with no access. The Disco has way more room...

None of the studs snapped when I removed the exhaust manifold and turbo on mine. The front exhaust to middle section just bolt together without a gasket but they are fixed studs - at least that is how they looked on ours. I assume the exhaust manifold doesn't have to come off or the turbo. The turbo is held to the exhaust with nuts and bolts and shouldn't give any problems.

I want to replace the turbo next year, so would like to replace the studs and nuts, just so it can be taken apart again in the future... Same with the exhaust manifold. I just like to fix stuff that could assist in the future.. after all its just a few quid for studs and nuts.

Im guessing 8mm. Will have to check later myself.
