Hi- I have a landrover discovery 1995 300tdi and read that if I take off the exhaust gas valve, or disconnect it, I will see an increase in power, I'm not sure exactly where this thing is situated and how to disconnect, can anybody help ?

cheers

Welcome clarky, first off, you have posted in series land rovers, so you are not getting anything like the number of hits you should be getting.

Secondly, yes you can, look at the passengers side of the engine, there is a round dome thing bolted to the side of the engine with a copper/brass pipe coming out of it, this ends up feeding into a black pipe which leads into your inlet manifold.

Get a plate from ebay, undo the 2 bolts from the valve, they will most likely need tapped with a hammer or some oil put in them to get them to release, they are sort of cooked on. I put an allen key into them and just tapped it down until it was loose enough to do by hand.

Now you can either slip the plate in behind the egr, and bolt it all back down or take the egr right off, and put the plate in place of the egr valve. Then undo the 2 hose clips take the black pipe out which connects the EGR pipe assembly and put in a new piece of pipe. I used a piece of scaffolding.

Job done.
