Hi all,
I have just finished a 200 tdi disco engine into my 90 conversion, i have been running it for a week now but the exhaust fumes are terrible! wile driving with windows up no probs but down, well i cant drive it with them down.
As the tailpipe exits at the rear it was getting in under the rear door (backdraft) so i put a sheet to fill the gap on the floor, so no probs from back door now.
Oil leaks are none existant engine bone dry, but i have noticed a very faint blue colour from the tailpipe but this dissapears when revving the engine.
Now i did notice some play in the turbo shaft before installation on the induction side and a bit wet with oil, Any thought's on this!!!!

Thanks in advance

Phil

I had the same on my 90 pickup. Opted for a side exhaust just in front of the rear wheel. Sorted it out no problem

I drive my 110 soft top with the back rolled all the time and its not too fumey. Are you sure you dont have a leaky exhaust somewhere? Have double checked it all the way from the engine back?

Guess why LR shot the exhaust out of the side? When you drive along the passge of air over the top of the vehicle causes low pressure on the inside sucking in the fumes. All vehicles suffer with a low pressure zone directly behind the vehicle to some extent but because of the shape of the Landrover it is worse than most.
You can limit the fumes by driving with the windows closed because when they are open the airflow sucks even more air from the cab sucking in fumes from wherever they can get in.
Exiting the exhaust to the side dispells the fumes into the fast flowing air passing round the sides of the vehicle so they dont get sucked back in.
You need to sort it or your next drive could be your (and others) last. CO poisoning sneaks up on you with no real symptoms other than drowsiness at which point it can be too late.

Cheers for that, weather permitting i'll bring it out the side tomorrow, will post how i got on.

Thanks
