Hi all had an eventfull couple of days with my beloved landie.

First off i ordered a rear silencer from euro carparts in dartford after much explaining that it was a 109 lwb an that they needed to make sure it was the right one i was assured it was an it was all done over the phone for next day pick up.

So with excitment after phoning to make sure they had it i drive over to dartford ,when i eventualy get to the counter (slower than snail ) the moosh presents me with a shiney new box :)........... hang on thats for a swb ! so i say to the moosh wheres the moosh that ordered it ?well hes out the back an wont come out so the counter moosh gets his book out and when i explain its a 1967 he says our book dont go back that far !!!!!!!!!!!!

Right so why promise its the right part ? give us my money back all 50 quid an off i go .

On the way back i pass the stealers beadles of sidcup hang on the parts bloke in thre is mustard as i used them about 3 years ago with no probs.

So in i go and park the old series next to all the shiney rangerovers ,as i walk in the parts im greeted by andy whos smiling like a chesure cat an says i saw you go past in that lovley old series :) well when i tell him what im after he goes out and lays under me landie an comes back out come the series books,

after a good nose and telling me he has to be careful cos theres a britpart that is an inch too short an he wont be getting me that one .

He goes back out an lays under again this time he says its got a station wagon one on it and then i say i might as well have the middle section while im here more nosing and discussion on obsolete parts he finds the one i need .

Fantastic all in for 60 quid so off i go very happy.

In the car parrk the series has a few admires all commenting how nice she is .

Now yesterday i decide to give the old girl a run out around the kent lanes sevenoaks, westerham brasted toys hil etc and she was faultless until later that night after ive parked up for a couple of hours i go out and drive off im only going up the rd i think blimey that clutch pedal seems a bit low and its getting worse so i limp back home and just manage to reverse into my space but now i cant get it into gear so have to push the nose in .

after inspecting it this morning its the slave cylinder that ****ed its fluid so 20 mins of laying on the ground an orf it comes .

So its back to sidcup im not gonna fook about with online rubbish im going to the man that knows ;)

Been to a local landrover stockist recently when needing parts in a hurry guy was amazed when I phoned him and quoted the part number he had it on the shelf.
40mins later I was there to collect and I was suprised how good the price was.
My problem is he is 20 miles away hence buying off the net works out better for me cash wise if it is not urgent.

Nice one , i do use the net its just i get suspicious when ordering parts as most of the time they get it wrong and prefer the old fashioned way dealing with a real person .

I dont mind the extra cost somtimes as it outweighs the aggravation you get when they send the wrong part .

Famous last words an all that ! just been on the phone to beadles and spoke to a bloke in parts as andy dosn't work on sat so tell him what i want a genuine slave not ****part, must be lucas etc 1st he says oh youve got a 3a .....no series 3 engine and box so he goes away and comes back an says its still available from the factory and its 90 quid plus the vat !!!!!!!
fookin hell so i say is that right you sure its the right model so he says come back mon as andy knows more about them old motors !

Thanks mate no havn't got a parts list yet but i got a no for dakar in swanley gave them a ring and said what i wanted and didnt want ,they had a trw /girling for 47 quid all in so orf i went it was the last one got some fluid and a "one man bleed tube" an its all bled and back on rd so mucho happy.

thanks barry at dakar ;)

Just get the parts book and order from lrdirect.com. You have the choice of original, ****part, Bearmach Bearmach OEM etc etc...

You find the part number and so you eliminate the main chance of getting the wrong bit.
