Hmm

I have a new shiny new motor.

But it only has 2wd. It won't like water or mud, but it is pretty good so far in poor weather.

Best of all there is no road tax, it is congestion zone friendly (no charge) and costs less than 10% a year to run compared to my Freelander .

I've still got a diesel guzzling 4x4 Land Rover. This make much more sense around London than the Freelander.

Range is quoted as up to 124 miles. A bit less in cold bad weather. Last night or to be correct in the early hours of this morning I managed about 55 miles on 70%. It was snowing, raining and sleet and the temp was 0C.

Later on in my journey (from Nottingham to South London -175 miles) I managed 50 miles on 60% at a higher average speed as well as it was just cold.

It really depends on the weather. Journeys take a lot longer as you need to stop and charge (for me that was 3 times). Should take about 30 mins to get to 80%.

Different way of life. I quite like it.

Sooooo peaceful.

Looks........... well they are different. It seats 5 in as much comfort or more than a Golf and has a similar size boot.

For 95% of my driving it will be perfect.

For off-roading I have a Freelander. It costs less to buy and run than the fuel bill for my Freelander!

I still fail to see how a new car can cost less than a banger?

Depreciation? and main dealer servicing costs and electricity costs.

Electric storage heaters expensive compared to oil heating- what is real cost per mile of depreciation, electricity etc

If I have to pay to charge it up at home it will cost about £2 for 90-100 miles.
This car is second hand and 1 year old so most of its depreciation has already happened.
I expect based on what I have seen to loose £1000 in depreciation over the next year. Fuel costs about £250-300 pervyear if I charge at home. My Freelander fuel bill is currently £3000 per year. No Road tax saves almost £500 per year and insurance is half the cost of my Freelander.
Servicing is, well, cheap. My 12,000 service is costing £100. No ice to worry about. Just breaks & suspension. It has 2 years warranty left on the normal stuff and 4 years left on the EV parts including the battery..

An old banger is great for 'cheap' motoring, but the cost of fuel for 15-20,000 miles a year is high on an automatic, which is all I will drive.

all really depends on how many years the deal is for, how long the vehicle lasts and all that

whenever i've worked these out, i've always figured it would cost a few k more over five years. did you work it out to that extent?

also what's the battery pack life like? i see things about them dropping 20% after a couple of years.

does look pretty nice.. i like gizmos!
