yes you could do a swap but its a lot of time and money if i were you id try an buy a diesel freelander
i own a freelander 1.8kseries and ive owned a rover 220tomcat non turbo which is the same engine i had a turbo conversion fitted to that and it went like hell, im now in the same boat as you i want more power and dont see why a rover turbo unit wouldnt fit ive not tried it to my freelander yet.

the 1.8L K series injun is NOT the same as a 2.0L T series injun. If you want to do the job proper - fit a T series injun with Turbo.
