24000 miles
Engine seized - cannot be fixed
3y 4m so just outside warranty

Q. How much will a new engine cost?
Is it better to just scrap the vehicle and take the 58k loss?

If you had it from new, speak with lr customer service, also your dealer. If you purchased s/h, I’m surprised you don’t have a longer warranty.
Plenty of calm conversations, and polite emails you need to have for 2-3 weeks

If it's been serviced to the book try trading standards. From what I heard a while ago the guarantee guide lines take into account how long you would reasonably expect something to last.

Thank you. I live in a remote part of Scotland so not able to get it serviced. LR in Inverness saying upto 2 months to even look at it.
The website says an engine should last 200,000 miles so barely done much over 10% of that.

I don’t know if it has a trade-in value in this condition? Or how much a replacement engine would cost?

Son's work colleague has just been quoted £20K for his Disco 5 with a snapped crank.
I don't know what a Discovery 7 is?

Thank you all for your help.
Found a helpful company called scrapcarcomparison.com who have been very helpful.

But rather sad that a 58k car needs to be scrapped after just 24,000 miles - a very bad reflection on landrover.

Needless to say that i will not be ever buying another landrover!!!!!!! (mercedes GLB looks a better option)

You haven't said if it's ever been serviced? or what the recall was for? It's not fair to blame them if it's been neglected.
