Hi guys

Just thought I'd let you all no

Had a sort or roughness with my Discovery td5 booting it at about 3000rpm... It was like a harsh vibrating sound but didn't affect performance

Was like it for about 5 years but didn't look into it much

Anyway last week my mechanic said your manifold is warped...

Got it skimmed etc all fitted

Drove it earlier and she's smooth as silk right through until the governor... Such a massive improvement!

Hi Discodevon,

Did you not hear the exhaust leaking?
Quite a common fault from what I hear on the Td5, some people even fit de-webbed manifolds from what I understand.

Cheers

Hi Neilly

Not really in all the years I've owned her

But obviously knew one day I'd be in this situation

Normally they make a right racket

But mine was a roughness at about 3k

Thought this may help someone trying to resolve these symptoms

Sorry, not in any way dissing your findings......... Interesting to hear how a little issue can make such a difference.

I just wondered if you could hear it in anyway? as people often talk about a squeel noise from what I understand.

Cheers

Nice write up, but I do like the way it is like a haynes manual........I am sure i was swearing a lot more while I undid my exhaust downpipe this weekend. Especially when the 3/8 extension bars I was using to undo the nuts from underneath, fell down and smacked me on the forehead....:(:(

Cheers
Yeah, they did make it look quite easy.

Yes I'm aware of the squealing noise but mine was either very quiet or I just didn't notice...

But since the skimming and de webbing it's made the engine so quiet...

also a little more poke!

Did you have it done or get one pre done?

Cheers
Had the one on there skimmed and de webbed pretty good price too

I always thought it may have been a problem inside the engine but has been there for 5 years

All gone now and running like a milk float :)
