Right, theres a weird popping noise coming through the engine and out the filter. Its a 2.25 petrol. And it sounds bloody horrible. Its 'in time' with the engine running. Any ideas? We've sured up all the manifold gasket and exhaust so we dont think its drawing air in.

Wouldn't be an inlet valve a bit tight would it, tappets!!

Its block mounted cam with push rods and rollers and a rocker shaft and rockers and nuts and adjustment bolts.



it could also be a broken cam roller - they are prone to that.
 
if its tappet adjustment - yup piece of poo - an hours job - dontforget to replace the rocker gasket. If its the rollers - then its ahead=orf job - meant to be easy , but to replace the lot will be circa a ton (£100). yu can get another injun fur about that. Its yo choice.

I dunt know why but I thought some of them things had the old rover injun fitted, the 200tc beastie. Oh well, I'll go un have a cupa I fink.

I will have a surplus 2.5 N/A in a few weeks. It has about 110,000 on the clock. Ex-MOD and was re-conned in 1997. It also has brand new rad / waterpump / fan / alternator / startermotor...... and so on! Let me know if there is any interest.

Just out of curiosity. How heavy is an engine? (dont laugh) cos if i need to come pick one up, i need to know if i can (struggle) to put it in back of disco, or will i need a trailer? (and straps etc)
