just a quick question i have just picked up a 110 as a non runner and im not sure whether to replace the 19j with another 19j or just go to a tdi.? what sort of money should i expect to pay for either engine? many thanks:)
 
You'll get a 19j for scrap value. 200tdi disco version for 200-500 notes...then spend as much again on conversion bits etc. Get complete donor disco for about same as engine alone - but need more space to work. 200tdi Defender version for silly money. V8 etc - speak to Dr Evil :D

No...but I still think there are a lot of people upgrading to 200tdi's that are happy to hand over their old 19J for what they would get from the scrappie...rather than go through the hassle of selling/shipping etc

you'd be lucky if you get £35 for a full TD, weighed in, you'd clearly be silly to weigh it in complete, peeps have finally realized it's not a bad engine, hence why they are selling for very good money these days, and lots of people don't want the hassle that comes with upgrading engines - they just want to drop back in the same engine type
 
I was thinking of staying with the 19j as I could swap it over in a day but I have never driven a defender with a 19j as my 90 is a 200tdi. Maybe the 19j is the better bet for just getting it back on the road. Thanks
