Hi Folks,

I'm have a recurring problem with my 54 plate Freelander TD4 automatic. If I change to sports mode ,or more frequently if I just accelerate quickly, the engine management system warning light comes on and my power drops away. However, this is not permanent because if I then turn oiff the engine and start her back up again the warnign light will go off and I can drive as normal. If I nurse the throttle and do not accelerate quickly I can drive as normal - so it seems to be the sudden demand that causes the problem in some way.

Any suggestions as to the cause and possible remedy?

Check your intercooler hoses for splits especially on the hose underside. Can also rub through on the manifold bracket/screw on the drivers side.

I had numerous problems with my 55 plate TD4, cutting out, low power, enough lights to impress Blackpool. Checked electrical plugs, changed MAF, it would clear for a while and then return, but since I replaced the fuel rail plug from ECU loom, not had a problem. I would recomend that you change this first and at £30 from a dealer it is a cheap fix if that is your problem.
