Hi

Hope everyone is keeping safe and well

Was wondering what views there are about engine flushes plse

Seems that many garages ask whenever the engine oil/filter is changed

Wouldn’t ever power flush my auto gearbox but curious on the engine and if it’s beneficial in any way plse

As always many thks as always appreciated

Personally I only flush engine if fluids have contaminated each other, as in head gasket , wet liner damage, oil cooler damage etc, otherwise with modern oil and regular servicing I don’t think it’s necessary. Just my opinion.

Many thks and most appreciated

Think my worry would be if bits came off and entered the piston ,or under the valve seat etc , particularly seeing the inlet manifolds can’t be too clean by going by the state of the egr pipes etc

As a side note never forget seeing many old cast iron boilers getting power flushed to try and reduce kettling , 8/10 it made it considerably nosier and had to either replace the exchanger or boiler

Thks again
