Hi all, after some months of care free landying ,the old girl has developed a fault which I can't work out ,if any one could help I would be grateful ,have looked through old threads without much joy. Happily running yesterday landy cut out with charge light coming on ,not thinking much ,keyed her up ,she started then done exactly the same ,tried again but had no oil light or charge light but engine would turn over!, then the lights came on and she started again ,drove about 200 yards. Charge light came on and died .tried few more times with same results ,only running for few seconds , left her for a while ,started and drove home!!!, have fitted an electric dizzy with a Lucas coil, and as I said been gear for ages , any help/advice would be much appreciated ,bumble

depends whether this is an issue with poor spark or fueling or loose connector ,poor ignition switch etc ,is dizzy and coil a recent fitting

Thanks guys, the dizzy and coil been on about a year and a bit, if ignition any ways to test/ bypass, thanks

a year so even though they still could be faulty ,fitting wasnt the cause of present issue ,you can put a new live wire from battery + to + on coil then try ,dont leave this wire connected for long unless engines running

Ok, so if I get this right ,get engine running and the place cable as described ,this will prove? Sorry but not to confident on wiring ,

that fault lies with ignition switch or wiring from it to coil, if it makes no difference fault lies with coil ,dizzy, cap ,leads, rotor arm etc or fuel

If it is a series three, make sure the fuses under the collum housing are not loose/dirty. I have had similar issues resolved by removing and replacing the fĂșses due to poor contact.

Just realised I didn't say it's a series 111 ,whoops, can anyone tell me how to bridge the ignition switch so I can check if that is the fault!?

Well,at a loss now, tried to test landy and not once did it cut out ,ran out of time Sunday to test her,did get time Monday but as said worked fine ,even got up to temp and still ok ,head scratch time
