When slowing down to stop at juctions the engine sometimes cuts out ( 2.25 petrol ).
But when started it runs fine on tick-over, had a look at carb, when rev-up it some times drops quickly but then some times drops slowly back to tick-over !
:(

What type of carb is it?

1. make sure the throttle lever and spindle are freely moving and not sticking.

2. make sure the tick-over IS controlled by the screw and not because the cable or linkage is tight.

3. check the float chamber is set exactly right. Fuel sloshing a tad high can do this.

4. with the engine up to full working temperature, and tickover set right, slowly screw IN the slow running jet until the speed suddenly drops - then you quickly screw it out about a quarter to a half turn. That should be it.

maybe - there will be some numbers/letters - post them and we'll know what make it is

webers are more normally fitted as an "upgrade" dont think they were ever fitted as standard

Interesting read.

It mentioned the twin weber has easily accessible jets. Does the 34ICH aswell? I need to try and clean mine tomorrow to see if it gets to the bottom of my 'kangarooing-under-load' issue. It seems these carbs are prone to it!

I hope its not the fuel passages that have blocked!

Had a chance to look at carb today, removed jet and cleaned then adjusted mixture and idle, landy is running great now and does not cut out. Thanks to all.

I guess thats the idle jet then. Anyway, glad its all sorted.

Will be messing with mine this weekend. Going to replace the Weber with my old Zenith to see if my kangarooing problem goes. Heard (and experienced) bad comments with the Weber's!
