i am hoping to change the engine in my 1986 LR 90 , it is currently a 2.5 petrol (NA) and i would like to drop a diesel into it . Preferably a Tdi .
my current plan is to buy a MOT failure with a reasonably sound engine (e.g an old disco with with rotted out floors ).
does anyone have advice on the best model of old landrover to buy for a replacement engine? should i also replace the gear and transfer boxes?
i have all the facilities to do engine changes to hand .

been reading up on td5 conversions , they look like quite a challenge! with electrical problems and engine mounts etc.. do you you if a td5 conversion has been done before?
