I've got zero pipework on the engine at the mo, can someone please give me an idea of what goes where and connects to which bit. A duffers guide is what I need :oops:

I've read that there's a little jobber called a pcv valve? Which are seventy odd quid from craddocks :eek:
Do I need one?
 
Pipe needed from carb to dizzy. Normally thats a small bore steel pipe. This is for advance/retard.
Unsure of the others. It’s early
 
Breather - you don't really need to connect anything. The engine will breath through the oil filler cap on the rocker box just fine. You may want to pipe this away as it can be messy. You can pipe it into a bottle lower down or into the inlet after the airfilter and before the carb. This means the engine burns the oil vapour. Later there are all sorts of breather system addtions to do with meeting emissions targets, most don't work, add complexity or just fall apart. That looks like the connection on the side of the inlet trunking elbow. I've just looked in the parts book and I can't find it. Its just says "breather filler" and there's no pipes shown.
 
Not liking your earth set up to rocker box, the washer has a rubber insert and will limit contact. front casing bolt is a good place.

I missed that! An absolute no no. Should be on the starter bolt. That will be taking 400-600 amps on a cold morning, you don't want that on a rocker stud.

:pIt was a short term bodge to see if the engine would turn over. If you think that's bad you should have seen the wiring loom :oops:

As above. My lightweight came with a Weber carb conversion. The original breather that came from top of rocker box was diverted to a plastic bottle in under bonnet toolbox. I had a similar set up on my old Elan as diverting the fumes / mist back into intake manifold meant number 4 plug fouling in traffic. I bought a proper ‘pot’ us used on racing cars (mine came from demon tweeks) and use something similar on the Lightweight. Alternatively you can just divert out beneath the chassis but it’ll make a mess on road / drive
 
The pipe on the inlet elbow connects to the pipe on the side of the oil filler tube.

The long pipe coming off your inlet manifold connects to your brake servo.

Yes, I'd agree with this. Although where does the distributor vacuum advance pipe usually attach? I know it's a small bore tube, but I've not quite worked out where I'm supposed to attach mine, yet (not that I've actually spent many brain cycles looking at it so far).
