Google has not been my friend on this one. Can anyone tell me the measurement of the engine and gearbox mounts on a SWB from the front datum hole (the 3/8 hole) in the front (number2) crossmember also the height of the engine mounts from the top of the chassis. I have a chassis layout from the owners manual but no dimensions are from this hole.
The reason for asking is that I have been given a series3 and It had a V8 in and I have a 2 1/4 petrol to go in. I know the front engine mounts were low so these have been took off ready for welding in the right place but I am not sure where this is.

the distance from center of g/box c/member to injun mount is 835mm
from vehicle center line to injun mount is 167 mm

both of the above are for the rhd injun mount.. yer should be able to work the rest out from that if yer have yer injun and box to hand. if not gees a shout and i'll get more figures fer yer

Thanks slob, I havnt got and engin or box to hand and not sure if gearbox x member is in right place. looking at drawing I get centre of front axle to gearbox x-member to be 1085.8mm do you agree? might be able to work from that.
Not sure of the height of the engine mounts tho

reet from front datum line to injun mount is 203mm or 8"

from vehicle center to front LH injun mount is 290mm or 11.406" or 294mm on early models

With the gearbox and props in place I offered up the engine and used a couple of bolts to temporaraily hold the m together. Then as the engine and gearbox were supported on a hoist ,I was able to manouvre them into the correct position. The chassis was then suitably marked as to where the mounts would go ,and the engine unbolted from the gearbox and removed.
With the chassis mounts now welded in the right position ,the engine was refitted and no problems were encountered.
Hope this is of some help.

Hi that was my train of thought but it will be a while before I get a box, and I would like to get the chassis finished so start getting the front end together.
