One of the jobs lined up for the summer was to have a look at what needed doing to the lower tailgate as it has had an obvious repair attempt in the past on the bottom lip.
Well on shutting it on Monday I found white powder coming off it and on closer inspection the inside lip on the bottom had come away all along its length (oh bugger I thought
).
The choice was try and repair it or look for a replacement panel or lower tailgate. There were a few bare ones around £40 to £60 + £15 to £30 postage, most of them had corrosion starting or bubbles in the paint.
One stood out, that was a white one from Emmotts for £85 including delivery so I went for it. I still expected a little corrosion (as they all seem to have).
Ordered it Tuesday night ...... well yesterday moring it arrived, just as SWMBO was leaving for work. When I got in last night we opened the packaging the plastic wrapping, the tons of cardboard and then all the bubble wrapping
.......
........ inside was the tailgate, all in white with not a mark on it, not even the start of signs of corrosion of the bottom lip and it came with all the locks, electrics and lights all attached, even the old number plate was still on.
All it needs now it to be stripped, prepared for painting and changed from white to white gold.
I have seen a couple of posts about iffy service from Emmotts, but they came up trumps for my first dealings with them ...... well done Emmotts.
