back again, hopefully for the lasy time in regards to my almost well behaved range rover p38 diesel.

After a cold night and a well used battery the rangey had decided to go into anti theft mode (confirmed by diagnostics). although cranking it was not starting.
I was asked if i had key 1 to do the emergency key access (is it possible to do it with key 2?) I had misplaced key 1 and when was eventually found it appeared to have gone through the wash. with new batteries the key fob light stays on constantly.

with key 2 the engine was cranking but not starting and with key 1 the dashboard said 'engine disabled' and did not crank. I have tried the emergency key access code with the key 1 and will now crank but no start.

will i need diagnostics to clear the anti theft device codes?

when this issue is sorted it can be sold.

any tips, much appreciated.

ECM and BECM are out of sync. You need to resync it with diagnostics or a Syncmate.
