Ladies and Gents, I have a TDI300 defender. Both the oil pressure light and the generator light will not light up when the ignition is switched on, I have checked the bulbs, everything works as it should just no lights. All the other lights work Hi/Lo beam., fog indicators etc. I have tired everything. This only occurred when I went to change another bulb in the panel. wiring seems ok, I did find a white wire that went no where. with no termination on it, I don't know if this is a clue. I am assuming it was there before and it all worked.

All fuses checked and OK

Any help gratefully accepted.

Mike

The oil pressure and generator lights are triggered by ground switches, they get the positive from that white wire.....

b&c are the two relevant lights. d,e&f wouldn't work either but (e)hand brake and (f)seat belt are not likely connected... d is the brake circuit i.e. low brake fluid

Thanks for the info, why would both stop working as they are separate wires to two different items? Would it be that they have a common earth on the indicator lights and this is what the white wire is? It all worked until I went to change the bulbs!

No the sensor switches create the earth for each light. They have a common live. The white wire is the common live.

Got That thanks, I have looked at another defender and it seem that the white wire with no home duals up with another white wire that connects to the warning lights. I hope this is the problem. I did try and connect that wire to said warning lights with no joy, I will try again.
