Hi all

Just bought a discovery 1 300tdi, the previous owner had fitted a complete letter interior with heated and electric front seats, now he never wired the seats up, he reckons the wires may be there?

From doing a search on here if the wires are not there its gonna be a nightmare to get them going.

So I'm thinking to get a normal cloth interior but was wondering will an interior out of a discovery 2 fit in the discovery 1?

And in the mean time is there any way to move them back and forward till I can locate a new interior? Once it's in place it will stay there so only need to move them once?

Just fitted electric seats in mine. If you don't have the switches and loom then apparently it's a pain.

If you do have all the wiring and switches, then mine is powered by the accessory relay under the passenger side footwell trim on the left.

To tell if you have the wiring - look under the passenger seat for a little bank of relays and fuses. The seat switches should be on the side of the centre console by the arm rest.

I do have a full grey cloth interior from my 98 disco 1 up for sale if you want it. 7 seats with door cards (no rips, very tidy)

They ain't that difficult.the wiring comes from 3 sources-engine fuse box no 3,fag lighter and courtesy light switch in the door pillar, drivers side.it does work

What is the purpose of this connection, "courtesy light switch in the door pillar, drivers side.it does work"?

I was trying to work this out the other day with the man who was wiring mine in.

We could only think it was to do with being able to move the drivers seat as you open the door without putting the keys in (if someone really short last drove it and you can't shoehorn your backside into their driving position).

It only works the drivers seat, not the passenger one.

Well well after 17 years I never knew that  must read my handbook again :)

I know that the drivers door contact has an input to the operation of the interior lights, windows and immobiliser but that's via the MFU, so the drivers seat also.. I've just been out and looked.

The drivers door contact only has a single wire connected to it even with factory fitted electric seats, that wire is direct to a terminal of the MFU.

The only time my seat moves is to return it back after the shortish person has moved it to carry out his MOT test.:D

Saves you wearing the switches out I guess!

I've still got to get myself a new centre console with holes for the switches - I'm moving over to a beige one as I think it will fit in nicely with the door cards. Don't seem to be many about as it would need to be a manual with beige/cream electric seats which I don't think is very common, as most ones with leather tend to be autos

the rave manual is invaluable as haynes wiring diagrams are next to useless.off the top of my head and dont quote me on this, the green/white goes to light switch,green/pink to fag lighter and thick purple to engine fusebox terminal 3.

just found my notes-purple/green to door switch, light green/white to fuse box passenger fuse 6,20 amp and brown/purple to fuse 3 engine compartment,60 amp.earth to fixed stud under drivers seat.

If I'd had this a week ago, it would have saved hours of head scratching!

just completed mine yesterday it wasnt that difficult so long as you have the relays from under the passenger seat ! then the green & goes to the cig lighter green & white ,, the big brown on goes to the white & pink live to rear window switch ,, & the small thin one that goes to the shut just put it to a earth !! :):)

It did take some research.i thought it was strange on the wiring but it works.ive just got to get some decent switches as mine are only working on certain functions.they have been stripped and cleaned.

That's how mine are, it was much easier to earth that wire than run it to the drivers door switch. Not interested in having them work when you open the door personally.

That's a shame, the switches seem like a real pain.

Just seen the pics, very little but from what I can see they look good. Definitely make the interior feel less agricultural and more luxurious.

Mine are cream leather with brown piping which I've not seen before - love them!
I've got a gliptone liquid leather air freshener in mine to aid the leather smell. It's lovely - smells like proper old school leather in there!
