Hi, I'm in the process of changing the cam belt on my disco, whilst I've got the viscous fan removed I thought it'd be a good idea to replace it with an electric equivalent. Has anyone else had any experience with this? If do you know what fan I need?

Cheers

The engine must be a Tdi all the others have a chain driven cam. I understand that the Tdi is over cooled so it's possible to run without a cooling fan except in extreme conditions, so leave it off..

i knew it's not Td5 but could have been 2.0mpi aswell:D... i just dont like when somebody doesnt give the full info;)

for a Td5 i would discourage everybody to go on electric fan...as i had one but was forced to go back to viscous.

Yes the MPI 2.0 T16 engine has a cam belt, but then it already has an electric fan as standard so that's why I discounted it ;)

Hi, it is a 300tdi. Sorry to upset you by not giving all the info ;-) discool, im planning on entering some pay an play days so I think I'm going to need a fan of some description. Turns out the viscous fan fell apart whilst removing it anyway so now I've got a choice of upgrading to electric or the cheaper viscous replacement.

OK so if you wish to have a electric fan then two ways to go about it, buy a kit from the likes of Kenlow direct or SIMMONITES LTD KENLOW FANS which will have the mounting kit, temp sensor, wiring diagram or get a fan from another vehicle at a scrap yard and make up your own diy kit, temp sensors plus the in-line hose housing for it are available on the web.

As always it's all been done before, so you will no doubt find more info in this in the forum and others if you search. :)
