Hello all. Having problem with my elec seats on my 1976 P reg Discovery. They will go up and down, tilt forward and back. They will move forward but will not move backwards. Any ideas to what might be the problem. In fact will go every way they should, but will not go backwards

The switch packs are getting faulty. I had the same, I tried dismantling and cleaning the contacts to no effect. Beware they are full of tiny ball bearings and springs.

To confirm the motors are OK try swapping the passenger switch over, yes the wiring does fit but operates backwards.

In the end I bought a new switch unit as the &d1 switches are like rocking horse droppings 2nd hand.

That sorted it out for my ES. Personally I prefer manual as the wife is little and it takes too much time waiting for them to slide forward and backwards

I fixed up mine with a shot or two of contact cleaner into the switches.

I had the same problem - Took the switch assembly apart and cleaned every thing and it works a treat now - One piece of advice if you do attempt it make sure you put the switch in a tub/tin/box before you take it apart because there will be springs and ball bearings everywhere, and don't panic where all the bits go there is a great link on google
