Okay, Im driving a 90 Td5 (2006) and Ive done a search on the site re EGR Removal however still looking for a wee bit further clarification.
Will removing the EGR give me better fuel economy? some threads say they have lost economy after doing this!
I realise it will improve the performance of the engine and Im all for that, even though I dont really need the extra power. Is there anything else I can do apart from a remap that will improve economy, I already watch my style of driving and when i last done a brim test I got 29.2mpg (thats with a roofrack)
Im also looking at fitting a Mantec Snorkel, will that reduce mpg further?

Any thoughts advice is welcome, Im a new owner so still learning.

There is no way removing the EGR will reduce fuel economy. All you are doing is making sure that your engine gets clean air and not recycled exhaust gases.
As for improving economy I guess the difference would be so small as to make no never mind.
Do it and sleep well knowing that your engine is not constantly being choked with black gungy ****e. I work on the theory that if it was that important to how the engine runs then it would be part of the MOT with no exceptions. Mine has passed every MOT since removing it and looking at the emmissions print outs they are well within the levels and in some cases down on what they were. BTW my current engine is a 15p EU3 spec engine exactly the same as yours.
 
Re the Mantec snorkel.... I opted for the 'plastic jobby' on my last 90 (pic on profile) and again I would not say it made a significant impovement in MPG or performance. I would say that it was quite easy to fit, take your time and make sure it sits flush with the side vent before drilling into the screen frame. A bead of Tiger Seal or similar around the gasket is a good idea to ensure a perfect seal.
RE the EGR the only thing for sure is that clean air burns better than dirty but like Shifty says MPG wont be improved... some people say it improves power. I will be fitting one on mine soon. I am thinking of doing a bit of a test before and after ie same temp, weather, stretch of road, wind, weight (ie full tank and same fat people) .... maybe 30-50 in 4th or similar with no gear changes and time it.
I need to get a life :)
