Right after reading every thread on EGR removal on this site and some lesser sites and googling it to death i still have some questions.

Most advice is on the Discovery platform but i,m intending to do this on ma 110 300tdi on pay day. The removal seems easy enough. Now ma wee 90 300tdi had its EGR removed before i bought her. Now there is no trace of the system , as in no wiring or no vac pipe. She drives fantastic and pull,s really well albeit she is thirsty!

Now i,ve red up on blanking the vac pipe with a bolt or has anybody else had a more "tidy soloution" ? The same for the wiring, some advice is to simply tuck it away. Has anybody fully removed the wiring?

Whilst i,m at it i,ll decat her as well, so is it worth stripping the inlet manifold down for a de-gunge or will it clean itself out through use?

Haven driven both motors today the 90 is idling smother, is this a product of the EGR removal? I also drove a works 110 today and well it was a bag of spanners compared to mine!:(

And finaly what are your opinions on removal?

As normal my mind has rabbled on...........getting old me like!

leave all wirinng etc as is aqnd just undo valve from manifold and place a blank tin gasket between the two job done

Yep worth doing mate!!!
Straight after blanking it clean out the intercooler and inlet manifold with petrol or white spirit - make sure they are dry before refitting - don't worry about the wiring it won't affect anything ;)

Has made little no noticable difference to me but its nice to know my engine is no longer being fed exhaust **** instead of nice clean air

The manifold wont clean itself over time. You'll have to get down and dirty. Its a god awful job but somebody has to doi it :)

Silly question time :p is it a case of just removing the intake pipe and scrubbing both parts with petrol and a toothbrush ? :D

DONT DO THIS INDOORS because it makes a lot of smoke.

I used our old oven in the garden when our kitchen was refitted.
Much easier and less messy than brushes and solvents.

I put the intake manifold in a domestic oven at full chat for an hour or so.
Let it cool down and brush out the ash thats left with a wire brush.
Dont worry as a domestic oven does not get hot enough to melt aluminium.
Put the manifold into a COLD oven so that it heats slowly and evenly otherwise it may crack or warp.

Dont be tempted to soak the manifold in caustic soda solution as unless you have an iron manifold it eats the metal.

Just did mine.

Did not really notice any more power BUT the engine runs way more smoother at idle and smoother under take off.
And less smoke.
