hi

i recently put some thorpes advanced diesel treatment in my tank and must admit notice the difference it seems alot quieter and smoother.

my main question is i replaced the egr with the bypass kit, on the right hand side there is a short corrigated section of pipe, the end that fits onto the new blank of the egr had a bell shape on the end of it.

the other end of the pipe came away without the bell shape metal that stayed in situ.

have i broken it or does it come like that, i slotted it back over the the other piece of pipe.

the FL started with no problem and produced no smoke.

im wondering should i buy a new pipe, how can it effect the engine, as i dont know if im indeed getting the full effect of the egr bypass kit

in addition i just managed to get the vacuum pipe onto the egr blanking point as it was quiet short

so it isnt stretched and to prevent it coming off, is it standard hose i can get down halfords etc.

thanks so much guys sorry if i ramble on as usual and that ive explained it well enough

since fitting the egr bypass kit ive also found that the FL seems a different vehicle with the engine more responsive, the old egr valve was choked up so i think i will be taking off the inlet manifold.

i have given up with microcat as i simply cannot get it to work on vista unless anyone else has had some luck.

all the best

hiya

i hope im not going to get in trouble, ive managed to find a pic on here showing the corrigated pipe.

i hope you didnt mind ming

as in the picture you can see a flat piece of metal , at the other end where is it fitted this is where my pipe has come away with the flat piece of metal

was wondering if this is normal or i should buy a new pipe, if so does anyone know what its called please.

many thanks

Question: If he's already done the EGR blanking mod why would he need to blank off the pipe feeding the EGR, its already blanked off at the new EGR mod end?

Or am I missing something!

By installing a new EGR-bypass one still needs to block off the vacuum arrival. When this is done just by blocking the end of the pipe one risks the starving duck effect. To avoid this it's better to block off the departure pipe so that the solenoid is also put out of action therefore using the peg etc.. method.

Pic borrowed from tuning diesels site :)

If you are talking about the exhaust blank side, that pipe needs to be attached with a particular split type clip which should have been on the end of the original assembly. Definitely wants to be attached. Is that what you mean?

hiya,

my apolgises for not replying sooner,

thanks for the great help.

ref the pic the exhaust gas pipe, it did indeed have the 2 special clips, the end the connected onto the new egr bypass kit had a dome shaped piece on it which was attatched to the pipe,

however on the other end the dome shaped piece of metal became detatched from the exhaust gas pipe.the piece of metal was left attatched to the clip.

had a good look and it seemed as though the domed shape piece of metal had been spot welded.

i pushed it back into the pipe and held fine, i made sure i attatched both ends of the pipe.

if i had thought i should have taken a picture but didnt want to take it out in case i completely broke it.

i was just wondering if i should buy a new exhaust gas pipe , does anyone know a part number please or what suppliers to go to, as i imagine land rover will sting me.

i have noticed since fitting the egr kit the cold starting problem has gone, fingers crossed.

once it gets bit warmer outside will take off the inlet manifold ( yes im a woose)and use my neighbours steamer, it produces about 4 bar of steam, was thinking of getting some engine degreaser and spraying inside before hand.

thanks so much guys as always for your help.

hiya

sorry guys to be a pain does anyone know where i can buy a new exhaust gas pipe please.

ive tried to do a search on google etc nothing coming up.

I was wondering if anyone knows the following please, just below the instrument panel there is a headlight leveling switch on the left hand side , well on the right hand side opposite there is a blank there, does anyone know please if this is stuck in or pops out.

as im going to fit my dashboard switch from the synergy into the blank and just didnt want to ruin it getting the blank out, it was just in case someone had taken it out before hand

thanks so much guys and everyone is safe and well

all the best

It just pops out mate, it's got my spot light switch on mine! It's best to run a single wire from the hole straight down towards the pedals first, it makes routing your wires much easier.

hiya

your a true gent thanks so much for that, i just didnt want to ruin it.

Now i know it pops out going to work out a way to install the toggle switch that came with the synergy,

thought about drilling a small hole for the centre toggle and 2 x really small ones so i can see the green and red leds that are on the toggle switch.

was thinking about a small amount of ' no nails ' glue or some clear silocone, as the centre toggle switch doesnt come with a treaded nut,

thanks so much again

I just drilled mine, but the switch I'm using is a push fit. You may be better off asking someone who has a synergy fitted how they have fitted there switch.
