so this weekend I'm getting rid of the EGR crap on my 300Tdi defender.

my first question is will i feel a difference? second is can i unplug the EGR box thing under the centre seat or does it need to be left plugged in so other gauges n thing work ect?

im also going to flush out my in let and intercooler.

cheers Landy-lee

If you just delete the EGR then probably not a lot, its cleaning all the crap out of the I/C and inlet manifold that makes the most change (depending upon how cruddy it is) as the engine can then breathe better. Getting rid of the EGR stops 99% of the build up reoccurring. I still have the ECU connected but that is because it is under the cubby box and out of the way, don't see any reason why you cant remove it.

When I did my 300Tdi D1, I noticed the difference, and then when I clean the IC out, t was better still. Both little jobs are well worth doing. :)

I then fitted a full width IC, and its way better :D

just put the wiring tidy, out of the way... it doesn't do anything else...

what full width intercooler did you fit?

If your EGR is working correctly and you remove it, other than in your mind you will get no performance increase whatsoever. You will get less crap being produced in the inlet though.

What's the best way to clean the intercooler and inlet manifold?

Gunk and a dish washer.

What was it like before the wash?
Here's my before and after. Not in the dishwasher though!

Mine was filthy inside, but had been blowing oil through.
