Thought i would punt again to see if anyone can do this for me (tried my local places and none have the skills)...

Have you acquired a fully working & complete EFi system? What would you convert to? Flapper, Hotwire or go big on Megasquirt?

Do you think the benefits would outweigh the cost of buying the injection system and spending the time converting to EFi?

I'd gladly lend a hand spannering on another V8 if I was closer. :) Its just a case of swapping inlet manifolds + fuel pumps, torquing the bolts up correctly and wiring in ~4 wires. (Permanent 12V, switched ignition 12V, gnd, fuel pump feed and feed from the coil).

EDIT: Hmmm... only 135 miles away...

marccleave, thanks for the offer, i did have a guy all lined up and was ready to buy a complete EFI system, but he then pulled out :(

My other option is to bin the strombergs and fit a Edelbrock four barrel, which i have been led to believe has a electric fuel pump and no choke, so is far more wife friendly, which is again why i am doing this..
My wife will not drive the Defender due to the choke and fun from cold, hence its either get this fixed or i will have to sell :(

Carb upgrade is less work. No wiring, no new fuel lines or high pressure pump assuming yours are serviceable. Then there's the risk of buying efi with an existing issue and having to fault find.

This is definitely something to consider! If you're like me, anything for an easy life! :D
