hi myn 200tdi is running a 50/50 diesel to veg mix,

when i drove it last it suddenly lost all power, was idling very low and eventually died

it will start again and it will rev to begin with then does the same, leads me to think its not head gasket ?

do you think it could be as simple as fuel filter ? iv not changed it but have got one new to fit , shal i ?

thats why i mentioned the veg as your ment to change filter ...

any other ideas ? no luck on the searching forum front

Might be the veg oil, I used veg oil a while back and had similar problem.
I had to drain it out to reduce the percentage of veg oil to diesel and it ran much better.
I don't bother with veg oil now.
:)

how do i check my lift pump ? will be changing my fuel filter as i have a new one so makes sense,

i dont really need to run veg as i make bio but seen as theyre ment to be good on it and it saves my bio so i can sell it, it makes sense :)

btw the primer on the lift pump has no resistance up or down, but im sure its been like this since i bought the disco to donate,

would a 19j or series lift pump fit ??

19j pump was the same as the one on my disco 200tdi.
They don't pump unless you have the cam in the right place.
I have fitted a fuel priming bulb, between lift pump and fuel filter, which makes bleeding up a pleasure:D

Change the fuel filter, if it still does it, change lift pump, if it still does it, curl into a ball, hold head and rock backwards and forwards muttering:lol:

will compile all of these and see what works, but its too warm today so it can wait till tomorrow,

what dou mean the cam thing ? when i changed one on the series it was a pig to do to get arm under

lift pump is operated by a cam, when cam is in wrong position it wont pump,
you have to flick the engine over a split sec, maybe a couple times till cam in right place.

OR..

fit fuel priming bulb and never need to do that ever again:D

Hi take off feed pipe to filter housing remove fuel cap try to use airline if you have one gently blow down pipe into tank ! All clear bubbles is good , next reconnect pipe to filter housing , remove feed pipe to inj pump , make sure the pump isn't on the cam ( turn crank with a spanner untill a full stroke can be obtained on pump lever ) undo bleed nut on the filter housing and pump untill nice fresh fuel comes out carry on pumping untill no air comes out then lock up bleed nut ! Now pump again until fuel comes from pump feed ( it eomt gush out just a dribble really) then connect pipe back onto inj pump , pump a bit more until resistance is felt !! Start her up !!! That's after changing the filter !!!

right it turns out its not the filter, iv changed that, i though it was overheating and doing it but i left it for an hour came back and it did it after 2 mins of running at idle,
how would i check lift pump, and failing this what else could it be ??

it cant be overheating because the water isnt even pressureizing !

Take pipe off from filter housing , it's the pipe from the top of the lift pump , the lift pump is bolted to the engine block same side as the injection pump near bulkhead!! With pipe off point it. Into a jar and start engine , it should pump a nice squirt of fuel every second or two , if it's pumping like a good un it's ok if it's just a small dribble it's faulty !! Simples !! If by chance the pump doesn't shift much fuel replace it with a new pump , not a britpart one !! Rubbish !! Bleed up system upto top of filter housing then crank engine crack one injector off and it will go lock up injector and it'll be good!!! Good luck ..

right, going to check lift pump today, if need be ill buy a new (non ****part) one,

if its not the lift pump what else could it be ? theres quite a kink in my turbo to inlet pipe could that of collapsed internally ? someone also said hole in a boost pipe ?

havent needed to use it recently as the old mans left me his amg merc !
