After all the tears I am having my 4.0 rePlaced with a top hat 4.6 engine but we are getting conflicting ECU advice;

1. It just needs the fuel map changing to the 4.6 which is in-built.
2. It needs reprogramming by a dealer or the likes.
3. It will automatically adjust to the engine demands.
4. Bin it and get another one.

Help!!

Should re- adjust it's self as its still the same firing order. Have you got the air flow sensor connected as this sends a signal to the ECU to tell it how much fuel it needs??

Thanks, pretty certain mine being an 02 will have a the Bosch system not Gems but I take it the theory is the same?

Cheers for the Rangerovers.net link Fanatic - it made interesting reading especially the Rovacom help files.

Thanks for your, motor is back we have done just 400 miles. ECU has been untouched as she was running well within LR tolarances while hooked up to diagnostics, so the plan is to run her in on petrol for 1000 miles, max 2500 revs and then do some more checking and set the gas up. MPg has averaged just over 19 but a best of nearly 22 on the motorway.

Cheers

Bill
