I'm getting rid of the middle seat in my 1995 Defender 90 and underneath it I found some wire and an ECU unit. My mate has a 96 Defender 90 and he has nothing under his seat. I read somewhere they are not used in the UK, can it be removed, terminated or something as it is slightly too thick to fit in the recess under the cubby unit i'm fitting?

Thanks

It's the egr control module.

Just remove the egr valve and then you can get shot of it.:)

Sorry for being a bit thick but what do I remove and from where? Is it not needed or not useful?

Thanks

remove the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation valve) from the engine and replace it with a blanking plate.

I think you might want to do a search for '300tdi egr blanking'. Read through a few old threads and then you can make your own mind up wether you want to or not.

Most people prefer to remove it.
