Has anybody had experience/used one of the cheaper winches from ebay. At the moment there is a German company advertising and the talk is good but can they walk the walk?

I have considered the hydraulic from power steering models but not so sure I can be bothered with the plumbing.

I have enquired about a winch bumper but need to give them the fixing points for winch so any replies asap.

many many thanks

regards

Depends what you intend to do with them, real work or just have some bling on the front. What are you driving?

most bolt patterns on the lowline winches are standard unless your fitting an 8274. i wouldnt bother with a cheap thing, wait for a bargain on a warn or superwinch. i picked up a warn M8000 with brand new 5.6hp bowmotor for £150 the other week ;) joy.

hang on if your not in a rush.

saying that, you live in spain. so i guess it wont be getting wet or submerged much. maybe an el'cheapo will do after all. the problem with cheap ones is they arnt sealed well, so water gets in and ****s everything up... i guess you wont have so much of a problem out there.

Gramor, re what am I driving, 1993 200 tdi Discovery, living in Spain the car gets worked to death and to be fair it does what it does very well but I'm getting more adventureous. I will take it to UK in two weeks for suspension lift/wheels and tyres/diff locks (undecided ARB or KAM), and of course winch bumper and winch.

God help Murcia when I return!!

If I've questions like this on eBay I look for previous buyers and mail them - I did so for these winches and got surprisingly good comments!

Dave - You say you are going to bring your disco back to the UK? My dad lives in the mountains of Valencia. He loves 4x4ing and I would like to take my LR90 over for a few months. How do you get your disco back and forth from the uk? Im hoping your not going to say drive as my 1986 2.5d only does 60mph :-(
