DSCF0211.JPG DSCF0215.JPG Getting access to the Radio/CD player connections, or any other wiring behind it, can be a trifle difficult & time consuming. There’s a little trick I’ve worked out and want to share it with you all.

To get access to the Radio’s rear, or whatever, one needs to remove the entire centre console, starting at the Stowage-box housing between the front seats. And speaking for myself, that’s a bit more complicated than the standard Freelander’s fitment because I’ve practically rewired the thing. For instance, I’ve installed Red-Flood lighting into the front of the stowage console, illuminating the dashboard, etc, operated by a single small toggle switch. As well as a few more little circuits. My car’s inside is starting to resemble an aircraft’s cockpit. Just how I like it. :)

Anyway, the little trick, to save removing the Stowage Console before the radio’s fwd console, is to remove the lip from the radio’s plastic housing. See the accompanying photos. I can now get easy access to the middle of the dashboard.

KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) as a friend, who recently passed-away, used to keep quoting.

Oh, and just in case any are wondering what difference Red Floods make, it does. Enormously. And they do not present a hazard to your night-time vision or driving. I used 4x LED lamps.
