Hi,

I'm the owner of an early 2005 L322 TD6, that awkward transition phase from BMW to Ford I suppose, as I have the Ford audio system but still the BMW M57 and that GM auto box.

Anyway; that aside, I have this 'new to me' range rover with a full main dealer history, it looks like it only ever lived in a city and has been well loved by previous owners. I just had a full service at a local specialist including the gearbox oil and filter change. Since returning from specialist I noticed a couple of new things;
  • Initially the power steering was incredibly heavy on the drive home, at first I thought it was in my mind, but when it came to parking I was quite sure it was not in my mind anymore, was going to call garage but the shop was shut, jumped back in the car 15 mins later and PAS is working absolutely fine, so no idea what caused that, is it the sign of something failing shortly?
  • I have a whistle when I release the accelerator now, it happens nearly every time, no matter how light or heavy I press the accelerator, it's just the faintest of whistles like it's sucking air in somewhere, lasts maybe a second and gone, I can only hear this with the window open of course. Any ideas on the cause?
I'd say the gearbox felt fine before the service tbh, but I just wanted to help it last a little longer (it's at 112k miles), however, it does indeed feel a smoother still now, possibly my mind justifying the expense I suppose, but it feels like butter as it moves through the auto box.

Anyway, new to the forum, this is my first land rover, but it has been an itch I needed to scratch since I was about 14 (a good 26 years ago), it's amazing how comfy those L322s are, I have a newer citroen as my commuter, the only thing it has over the L322 is DAB radio (and a more efficient engine :p ). I never get a smile in the Citroen, I always smile in the L322.
