Dum Dum is no more. Supply has dried up everywhere. I'm looking at a product at the moment from 3M. If there is any joy i'll post here.

tiger seal is better than ewt else, but its hurrendous if you get it anywhere you can stick two peices of steel together and ull have a job parting them.

I agree, Tiger Seal is excellent stuff as most of my landy was put together using it. Be aware though it sticks like **** to a blanket, get it on your hands and be prepared either to live with it on or buff it off with a grinder.

Hi folks,

I was in the same boat when my tin of Dum Dum ran out the other week. Working on a classic 2 door resto - so plenty needed.

The best alternative as mentioned above is a product from 3M - called Strip Calk. 3M part number: 08578 . It's quite handy as it already comes in strips - rather than having to roll out the dum-dum for fitting a roof etc.

Link: 3M Strip Calk 08578

There are also butyl products - slightly different consistency - as a backup I picked up some. It's from a company called Normfest: Butyl Tape - again comes in strips (2 x 7m strips @ 6mm diameter)

Cheers,

Andrew.

I was watching a Brittania Restorations video, where the guy gave a tip to reduce water getting inside the doors - he stuck dum dum either end of the door window seals in the corners.

Looked like a good idea, but in the absence of dum dum I used black plasticene... seemed to do the trick.

It's not sticky I know, but remains flexible ;)
