2 years ago at least I completed a complete rebuild of my 3.5 V8 efi engine. New crank from Rimmers, bearings, pistons etc, etc.
Knowing that it would be quite a while before the engine was started, I used graphite assembly paste in all the bearings, When finished the engine turned over nicely.
Now that the project is nearing completion the time has come to start the engine but I find that the engine is extremely stiff. I can just about turn it with a long bar on the crank shaft pulley bolt.
I suspect that the oil in the assembly paste has dried out so what I'm looking for are suggestions as to how I might get oil into the crankshaft galleries.
My first thought was to take out the distributor and try an spin the oil pump with an electric drill but the pump hasn't been primed yet and I don't really want to pump Vaseline into the bearings.
Is there another way of introducing oil, like through one of the hex plugs on the pump body, or will that just run back to the sump.
I REALLY don't want to have to take the engine back out.
