Could be - often caused by a loose or worn wheel bearing, but that tends to be more of a squeal.

Hmm, perhaps we need a set of definitions of mechanical noises, of even an audio library...
 
bearing on mine sounded like a drone, but mine was when i was turning right, so it cant be that :D
When you corner you increase the load on the opposite side bearing, hence why its only doing it when your cornering, took a while of droning before I could actually tell which bearing it was, it felt fine on a jack.
 
Could be "related".....see what I did then? to the whining at speed problem.

Always the left turn, never turning right, always left sinister that is, turn right fer christs sake, my mother lives over there, look just on the right here, damn you missed it again.
