Hi Guys,

My landy has had drive train slap since I've gotten her.
Yesterday I finally got around to seeing where it's coming from and it seems to be the clutch/gearbox area.

Any ideas ?

what engine and gearbox?

Could be a number of causes for excessive slap, some expensive and some an easy fix

jack a wheel up in turn and feel for excess slack in drive train, its unlikely to be the cllutch unless plate centers ripping out ,any slck from drive members to props etc will be felt in gear box

My money is on the imput cog in the transfer box that has'nt any pre-drilled lube holes (pre 300tdi).

If your lucky splines will have gone in the cog that you can change with out taking transfer box off and get a new drilled one for about 45 quid.

If not yeh buggered as the splines will have gone on the main gearbox shaft !!

Yeah that was my thinking to. Especially if an lt77 box (reverse up and left next to first)

if splines are worn on one the other will be as bad

Guesse I've been VERY lucky then in the past :)

very or one has just been replaced leaving either old gear or shaft, ive seen plenty of recon box mainshaft splines worn very quickly when input gear wasnt replaced at the same time
