I was looking at the drivers window on my brothers' 1996 Disco and will probably have to replace the regulator. When all was disconnected I noticed that the window becomes very stiff when pushed more than half way down. I can't see any reason for this nor can I see any method of adjusting the runners. I tried talcum powder, didn't help, so I then cut a sliver off each rubber but this still didn't ease the problem. There is no corrosion nor any sign of accident damage. I've spent all morning searching these forums but can't find any reference to this problem.

Anyone got any ideas?

Its not the metal channel that the glass sits in binding somewhere is it?
They corrode and distort and have a habit of catching/binding

There appears to be no corrosion at all unless it has occurred at the top of the door on the horizontal channel. I didn't check it before I rebuilt the door. This car spent much of its life in Japan and appears rust free

I've just replaced the regulator and also the rubber channel that the window runs in. To do this I had to remove the frame from the door in order to remove the window. I was actually unaware that the frame was a separate item.

There is absolutely no sign of corrosion or damage, but the window is still very stiff. The new regulator works but will never last with the heavy load being imposed.

I'm out of ideas, anyone come up against this problem?
