Hello, the outside bolster on the driver's seat is decomposing, and I want to replace the foam on the base only. I have seen a number of replacements are available, so my questions to the forum are how to best go about it. For context, the seat is in a '04 D2 Td5, is heated, and fully electrically adjustable, aside for some creasing on the leather around the collapsing bolster, the actual cover is in great condition. I have seen some good video tutorials on the foam replacement, just unsure as to how best to get to that point!

Questions I have are:

1) Assuming the seat or belt has pre-tensioners - do I just disconnect battery say 1 hr prior to undoing anything? Also is there a good position to adjust the seat to prior to battery disconnection to allow access to any of the fixings.
2) Does the whole seat need to unbolt and be removed, or can I do it in-situ (I think I need to remove...)
3) How easy is the heating element to re-install? I've also seen suggestions as to alternate heating pads (not wires) so if I have the seat apart, should I upgrade to a more modern solution? If I do so on just the base of 1 seat, would this impact the heating function of those that remain as per original spec (electrical load etc)

Anyway, any suggestions, experience on any of the above would be greatly appreciated. GJ
