Hi all.

todays problem…..

today my new and improved RF box has arrived (green dot) and I’m changing it has half cured a separate problem.

on my old one the car would unlock off the fob but wouldn’t lock.

since I’ve plugged in the new one it now locks and unlocks.! Everything but the drivers door. Which will only lock on the key.
It’s worth saying that when I lock the car on the fob I can hear the motor in the drivers door doing something. It just isn’t locking.

any ideas .?

as always. Thanks in advance

Take the door card off and give it a dam good look:)
P38 are known for little rods falling off. But I don’t know the powered mech to say anything else.
Have a search about locks as it comes up often so you may find Some info.

I thought the same so stripped it and had a play but everything seems to be in order. I’m wondering if the motors burned out ?

I used it in conjunction with this website when diagnosing my own door issues. Get a good multimeter before you start, that was my downfall.

Be careful selecting MGF locks though. some only have 1 or 2 microswitches and will not work properly. The clue on eBay is the number of wires (assuming the seller uses actual pictures & not generic pics).

Are they the same as the TF Pete? I got one and no problems.
Not sure. I commented because I have a selection that I bought a many years back before I discovered the issue. There's a single microswitch MGF passenger version that's not usable for P38. Main thing is to look for 7 wires.

I was talking about drivers door locks Pete, the passenger side ones are cheap and plentiful . I've even bought the rear locks to cannibalise for the motor to fit in the front.whilst I had it stripped down I removed the superlock motor, the small one,and super glued the locking pawl so it couldn't engage

That is true but the motors inside just clip in and out and can be swapped over.
