Hi all,

As a result of a fuel pump conking out and having to push and tow my FL2, I have managed to catch the drivers door on my towing vehicle as it was rolling backwards without power and the drivers door was bent back further than the hinges would usually allow.

Now the door still functions despite some minor panel damage to the door and wing but not too worried about that. However when closing the door the edge (handle side) catches so slightly as if the door is too big (but fine once latched).

Now... have I been lucky and just damaged/stretched the hinges and could potentially get away with replacing those or have I wrecked the body/door?

Posting on the off chance somebody has been silly like me to experience the same thing o_O

Post lots of good quality pictures for us to look at.

The hinges on the FL2 are very beefy, so if strained against the stops, it's likely that the body could get damaged. However you might be lucky.
There are plenty of spare panels available on eBay for the FL2, so you could likely find what you need in the correct colour.

Probably put a slight twist, bulge in A post, which effectively moves the door back a smidgen, if you are lucky, the bulge will be in the door frame around the hinge area

I'd agree. When we did this repair in the dealer body shop, the A pillar normally had a good twist in it. Although most of the time the body shop technician's could get it out without replacing it.

Appreciate the help! I have taken some photos and honestly I can't tell what's warped/bulged/bent o_O If anything it feels as if the door has dropped slightly because once the door is shut and latched it sits pretty well.

That is strange.

When ever I've seen a door extended to far (eg caught in a high wind), it does bend the A pillar where the hinges sit, but it usually moves the door forward so that the hinge side of the door catches the front wing rather than the handle side of the door catching the B pillar.

I can't see the images properly, as they're not hosted on the LZ site directly.

It looks like the check strap anchor at the pillar has been pulled outward.
It's difficult to tell from the small pictures I can see, but it could be the whole pillar has been moved outward. Check the gap between the dash and pillar and compare with the other side to see if anything has changed.

The hinges are adjustable, in that they are bolted into larger holes that allow a few mm in adjustment.
 
Interesting - when we say usually the A pillar bends, is that part of the door or the car frame?

Don't know if its worth trying a new scrap door to see if that remedies it. If its the car body that's bent then I'm out of my depth

The door pillar is the part of the body that the door hinges are bolted to.

Have you measured the gaps between the pillar and dash, then compared you measurements to the other side?
