Hi All
Can anyone help with some advice I have fitted a new drive plate have positioned transmission to engine and tightened bolts to 45nm.
The next procedure is to fit the four converter bolts through the drive plate but I have found holes not correctly lined up.
Is there any way I can turn converter or drive plate without turning both which is what happens when I turn from crankshsft.
I don't realy want to take transmission down again.
It is a 4.6 HSE auto 1997.
Would be appreciate any advice.:)
 
it sounds like your torque convertor isn,t fully engaged onto the pump on the shaft.there should be some slight back and forth movement approx 2mm if that it should also rotate freely,that way you can get them to line up.

did you jam the torque convertor inplace though the round inspection plate (it has three bolts on it) prior to removing the transmission or engine block?

if you didn,t jam it then the convertor may have slipped off the transmission pump which means when you start it up you will wreck the pump and the transmission.

my advice is to remove the transmission or block and make sure the torque convertor is fully engaged onto the pump then refit it and do the test i mentioned above otherwise it could be an expensive mistake.

I didn't secure converter so will now take off transmission again and ensure converter is engaged and secure before refitting transmission and hope I haven't done any damage.
