Started the car to go to work this morning and heard an occasional grumbling rattle. Put a listening tube to all the spinning parts and it's coming from the belt tensioner idler pulley.
Can I just replace the pulley or do I have to replace the whole tensioner unit? I ask because I can only find the complete unit for sale here in the States, but so far I can't find the pulley alone.

Perhaps I'm a Range Rover whisperer. Removed the belt to spin everything involved. I found no sign any bearing problems. No weep from water pump. So then I tried to put the belt back on. Which took a long time. Finally after cussing and praying, I got the belt on. Started the car and no more sounds. After driving around, still no more sounds.

If you need to have your Land Rover repaired, ship it to me across the pond.
