Hi all,
Will one fit? or am I stuck with a single din?
My New Kids on the Block Tape has snapped so no tunes now!!!!!
Double Din will not fit, without some cutting and fabricating a 2-din hole in the fascia, and lowering the a/c controls.
Depending how good you are will depend on how oem the end product will look.
I did this on my 03 Disco 2 SE7, and while it doesn't look exactly oem, it looks fine for me.
I installed a Pioneer AVH4000NEX with the Pioneer AVIC-U-260 Navigation add on module, along with mono bloc amp and 10" low profile Pioneer sub box. I also added rear view camera, Digital TV Tuner, 7" headrest monitors. The only wire that is showing is the iPhone cord coming from behind the front of the console that is connected to head unit. Steering wheel controls work, and the rear head phone amps are hooked up to the rear zone of the dual zone system of the head unit(this allows the headrest monitors to play a movie and audio comes from headphones while the driver and other front seat passengers can listen to something else, at the same time).
The parts needed are as follows:
Metra 70-1786 for oem to aftermarket harness
Metro 70-1787 (only for headphone amps, if applicable)
PAC SWI-RC for steering wheel controls
micro bypass switch(for viewing head unit, without being stopped and Emergency brake depressed)
To power any other inputs, Paul at lrConnectors in UK can supply the connector plugs to plug into interior fuse box for switched and constant power and ground(earth).
I now have 200+ ripped dvd movies on a 256 gb sdcard in sdcard slot, 20,000+ songs ripped in mp3 and FLAC format, on a Samsung 240gb solid state drive hooked up to USB2 slot, my iphone6 hooked up to USB1 slot, Digital TV Tuner on A/V input, HD Radio, Pandora(thru phone), AppRadio mode thru iPhone and hdmi input, and of course BT Phone and BT streaming or CarPlay. I also installed Escort 9500IX radar detector and EscortLive BT module on rear view mirror.
It may be an 03, but It is now in the digital age.
