Alright guys, just want a sanity check here.
I'm going to be building up a new 4.6ltr Thor engine for the Disco when I pick up the new block from Turner next week.
Just checking parts and specs and have come across a difference regarding what the crank bearing clearances should be.
The 4.0/4.6 V8 overhaul manual I have says clearance should be be:
But RAVE for the Discovery 2 says there should be between 0.015mm and 0.016mm (0.00059" to 0.00063") clearance for both the mains and the rods. This is a very tight tolerance To work with.
Can somone confirm I'm right in thinking RAVE is refering to the original factory specs using new components, and that the rebuild documentation figures are larger to accommodate slightly worn components.

- Mains......... 0.010mm to 0.048mm (0.0004" to 0.0020")
- Big ends..... 0.015mm to 0.055mm (0.0006" to 0.0021")
